Law Society and Courthouse Library Hours During the Olympics
Some details on The Law Society of BC and Vancouver Courthouse Library’s modified hours of service during the Olympics:
- Changes to the Law Society’s hours start February 5th and last until Feb 26. See the Law Society website for more details on hours and parking.
- The Courthouse Library’s hours will be affected from February 15 to 26, 2010, with regular hours resuming on Monday, March 1, 2010.
On a related note, the BC Supreme Court Self-Help Centre will be closed during the Olympics, and Legal Services Society family duty counsel will temporarily relocate to New Westminster during that time period.

Winter editions of newsletters from The Society of Notaries Public of BC and the BC Legal Management Association are now available.
From BC Notaries,The Scrivener Winter 2009 edition focuses on the concept of “image” and includes feature articles on understanding and promoting your image, professional excellence, first impressions and personal style, and office interior design.
BCLMA Topics Winter 2009/2010 edition features articles on the impact of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics on downtown law firms, changes to the Canada Pension Plan, tips for public speaking, and an extensive article on social media in law firms.
BC Law Reform Commission Report Summaries Now Online
The British Columbia Law Institute recently announced that summaries for all Law Reform Commission of BC reports are now available online at www.bcli.org.
Brief, one-paragraph summaries along with one- to three-page backgrounders are available for each of the 120 reports published by the Law Reform Commission of BC from 1970 to 1997.
Digitization of these materials was part of the BCLI’s Law Reform Materials On-Line Project, funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia. Law reform analysis and initiatives continue today though the work of the BC Law Reform Group, under the auspices of the BC Law Institute.
